Taoiseach Simon Harris and Minister for Further and Higher Education, Research, Innovation, and Science, Patrick O'Donovan congratulated Seán McLoughlin from Caragh, Co. Kildare, following his outstanding performance at the WorldSkills competition in Lyon. Seán, a talented footballer with Raheens GAA, not only finished 4th in the Electrical Installations category but also earned the prestigious Best in Nation medal, representing Ireland with pride on the global stage.
The WorldSkills event saw Seán compete against over 1,500 participants from 71 countries in front of 65,000 spectators at the Groupama Stadium in Lyon. His exceptional focus and dedication paid off, and he stood out among the best in the world, making both his hometown of Caragh and his team at GMAC Electrical in Naas proud.
Taoiseach Harris praised Seán and his teammates for their hard work and commitment, stating, “I couldn’t be prouder of Team Ireland. To walk away with five Medallions of Excellence is a fantastic achievement for these dedicated young people who have worked so hard to make it this far.”
Minister O'Donovan, who attended the event, also acknowledged Seán's remarkable achievements, saying, "Seán McLoughlin, along with the rest of Team Ireland, has represented our country with skill and ambition. His dedication is a credit to both his trade and his community."
